The Centre for European Studies at Pondicherry University is a dynamic academic hub dedicated to advancing research, teaching, and international collaboration in European Studies. The Centre recently completed a prestigious research project funded by the SPARC (Scheme for the Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration) initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This project, titled “Engendering Development Goals, Action Plans and Strategies: Dialogues between India and Europe,” was carried out in partnership with leading European institutions—the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and the University of Paris 13, France.
Committed to fostering interdisciplinary learning, the Centre offers soft core courses accessible to students across various departments. It actively promotes global academic engagement through ongoing and upcoming international projects, including a forthcoming Erasmus+ collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
The Centre continuously expands its academic network by building strong ties with French institutions, facilitating collaborative research, faculty exchanges, and joint academic programs. It has formalized partnerships through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the University of Calabria, Italy, and Oregon State University, USA. Additionally, the Centre is enhancing collaborations with the University of Minho, Portugal; CIESAS – Unidad Regional Sureste, Mexico and the Centre for Research and Training on Gender and Family (CIGEF), University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV). These efforts highlight the Centre’s dedication to fostering internationalization and academic excellence.
